At the annual Fall Coffee meeting, Tau Beta Association presented The Children’s Center with $125,000 in program funding to make a difference for children and families.
Funding will support an average of 22 children and families daily in CC’s Boutique, providing gently used clothing and meeting emergency food needs. In addition the Tau Beta Center for Discovery will continue to provide after-school activities and homework help to more than 600 children and siblings receiving mental health services at The Children’s Center, as well as ensure 65 special needs children experience a 6-week summer day-camp experience.
Lastly, Tau Beta has taken a leadership role in supporting The Children’s Center Head Start Academy, including seeding a newly created Center for Family Literacy providing nearly 300 children and families with a lending library with the intention of creating literacy rich homes in the 48219 community of Northwest Detroit.
Tau Beta has been an incredible partner with The Children’s Center for the past nine years, providing hands-on volunteerism, food and clothing drives, and so much more. These amazing women have so much love and compassion for the children we serve.
