Crystal Coleman serves as the Chief Program Officer at The Children’s
Center, providing oversight of operations for behavioral health, psychiatric, and psychological
services. In this role, she works in collaboration with her team of Directors, her peers, and
Executive Leaders to develop and implement operational strategies, initiatives, and improvements
to achieve expected outcomes.
Crystal earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wayne State University and went on to
obtain her master’s degree in Humanistic and Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of
Psychology (formerly known as the Center for Humanistic Studies). Crystal also holds the
responsibility of operational oversight across all behavioral health programs at The Children’s
Center.
Crystal began her professional career working as a family case worker in Child Welfare. Crystal
spent a total of seven years working in the Juvenile Justice field She has been working in the
Community Mental Health field in Wayne County for the past 16 years, as a Director. Crystal is
very passionate about individuals understanding the signs and symptoms of mental health
concerns, knowing when and how to access treatment and services, and reducing stigma related to
mental health concerns, particularly within the African American culture. She continues to
promote mental health and education in both formal and informal settings including community
speaking engagements, local media interviews and panels, and amongst friends, family, and
associates.
