Speaker Series: African American Males In Crisis

The Link between Literacy and African American Males in the Juvenile Justice System
This dialogue will explore solutions to the growing trend of young men experiencing behavioral challenges, or increasingly falling behind academically and becoming suspended from school, incarcerated and/or involved with the criminal justice system.
Local leaders will participate in a panel discussion providing insight regarding recent legislation on 3rd grade reading levels and matriculation, connecting literacy to the state of the African American Male and how we can keep these young men out of the prison system and on the right track towards being productive members of society.
